OUR WORK IN THE PAST

SUMMARY

FY 2007- July 06 to June 07

Philippines: In June 2007, we shipped hundreds of school supply kits to Burgos Elementary School in Mindanao. The kids were so happy with their new school supplies and tote bags. AJDF also donated school supplies to Asilo dela Milagrosa, an orphanage in Cebu City, Visayas region. AJDF’s total shipment in FY 2007 consisted of used computers, school supply kits, used school uniforms, and used books for school library. Lebanon: In June 2007, AJDF granted a request from Fr. Tony Zghendi of Don Bosco Technique, a school in Lebanon. Father Tony requested a donation to replace their old white boards. They needed 172 boards. Due to our financial difficulties, we were able to donate money for 25 white boards only. We hope to raise more money in our next fiscal year and continue helping the school. Afghanistan: On February 5, 2007, AJDF contributed $5000.00 to International Relief and Development (IRD) to help them pay for transportation of blankets from New Delhi to Kabul Afghanistan.

FY 2006-July 05 to June 06
Philippines: AJDF shipped computers, encyclopedias, used clothing and other educational equipments to public schools in Mindanao, Philippines. AJDF also donated Walmart gift cards and cleaning supplies to the victims of Hurricane Katrina in the Bayou la Batre area.

Plan: Due to an accelerating global shortage in ships, resulting in fewer cubic feet of shipping space available to be donated to charity shipping which has been our Foundation’s life-blood, we have started as of mid-2006 to temporarily divert our emphasis on normal operations to an emphasis on AJDF leading an effort to persuade our Government to adopt a policy that will alleviate this difficulty. The objective of this policy would be to increase the amount of aid charities can afford to send overseas by instituting a tax break to shipping-related corporations for providing “services-in-kind” to international humanitarian 501©3 organizations like ours.

This tax break would be the equivalent to the tax break given for the donation of “goods-in-kind” such as donating computers, medical equipment, agricultural machines and the like. This would motivate shipping-related companies like steamship lines, freight forwarders, freight handlers, etc. to donate these services to charity shipping operations. This foundation effort requires much work for us with Bar Associations, shipping interests, and Congressional parties for support for the new legislation.

Shipment History
In the beginning (FY00/FY01), TRANSFORM’s fundamental operating system was established and international shipments began starting with four domestic moves (FY00) to 54 international shipments (FY01), valued at $5 Million. In FY02, the program continued to expand and tripled its shipment rate – over 150 shipments, valued over $9.9 Million were made to countries such as Honduras, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Ecuador, and El Salvador. In FY03, our first shipments to Africa began (Angola, South Africa, Uganda and Djibouti); our shipment rate reached the 30/month mark in May and June reaching record highs. In FY05, TRANSFORM has focused primarily on the countries of Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica to help reduce the cost of shipping for humanitarian aid. In FY06, Great White Fleet increased the special ocean rate that was given to TRANSFORM, so NGO's who shipped through us in the past started shipping directly through them.
