PROJECTS

 ECUADOR

The Admiral Jeremiah Denton Foundation (AJDF) received a request from a charitable organization in Ecuador. They are in need of medical equipment, medical supplies, school supplies, household items, personal care items and more.

We are planning to ship a 40’ container, and we need your help in acquiring some of the items they have requested.

The recipients of this project include Shuar and Indian communities and also some Colonos. They are located close to the river, in Zamora Chinchipe. Most of the medical equipment will be donated to the clinics and hospitals to replace/update their old equipment.

 PHILIPPINES

3000 Backpacks needed for the Philippines

America has been blessed with great abundance. Every day, Americans donate their time, monies, and excess materials to help the world’s less fortunate.
AJDF received an appeal on January 31, 2008 from the Tabaco South Central Elementary School in Tabaco City, Philippines for assistance with school supplies. In November 2006, Typhoon Reming, internationally known as Typhoon Durian, wreaked havoc in the Philippines, causing massive loss of life.

The Philippines' National Disaster Coordinating Council’s final summary report on the damage of typhoon Durian indicated a total of 707,966 families affected, most coming from Regions IV-A, IV-B and V-Bicol. In Bicol alone, the estimated number of affected families totaled 232,493, or 1,162,465 individuals. The displaced families were evacuated in temporary shelters consisting mostly of public school buildings, although most of these school buildings were severely damaged by the typhoon as well.

The Bicol region is slowly trying to rebuild the loss brought about by typhoon Durian. Tabaco City, located along a coastal area, is doing its best efforts to reconstruct the damages within its mainland as well. Tabaco South Central Elementary School is an elementary school with a population of about 3,000 pupils. Most of its pupils have been affected by the typhoon. Their homes have been ravaged and the school is in bad need of repair. Being a public school, which offers free education, most of its pupils come from the poor section of the city who could not afford to pay tuition fees, let alone buy school shoes. As such, any school supplies such as bags, pencils, notebooks, rulers, etc. would be most welcome for kids who would oftentimes walk several kilometers everyday in order to get their education.

AJDF is conducting a fundraiser to collect new or used backpacks and school supplies, or have money donated to purchase these supplies for 3,000 school children in Tabaco South Central Elementary School.

AJDF is appealing to churches, organizations, corporations, and individuals to encourage their members to search their hearts and give used or new backpacks, school supplies, or donations to this fund in order to supply 3,000 children with the items they need to inspire them to study and complete their education.

Following is a list of items needed:
